Webyte vs Wix for small businesses

Wix is a general website builder used worldwide. You pick a template, drag layouts, write copy, connect apps, and publish. Webyte is a narrower product: an AI website builder for small businesses in Malaysia that starts from your Google Business listing. This comparison is factual. It is not a scorecard that pretends one tool wins every job.

What each one is for

Choose Wix if you want a blank canvas, a large app market, and you are willing to design and write the site yourself (or hire someone who will). It can power a shop, a blog, events, and many layouts that Webyte will not try to cover.

Choose Webyte if you run a local shop and the job is: name on Google, hours, photos, WhatsApp, live page, edits when the menu or rest day changes. That is the product. Restaurants, cafés, salons, workshops, clinics, and home services are the trades we wrote pages for first.

Starting point

On Wix you start with a template. You fill it. If you already have a Google listing, you retype or copy the same facts. On Webyte you search the listing and get a preview assembled from public listing fields, then you confirm and replace photos. If the listing is empty or wrong, Webyte cannot invent a good site from nothing. Fix the listing, or type less and still check everything.

Time and effort

Wix time depends on you. A simple page can be done in an evening if you already know what to say. A polished site with apps, forms, and a shop takes longer. You are the designer unless you pay one.

Webyte time is search, preview, your photos, verify the WhatsApp on the listing, publish. Many shops finish in one sitting. You are not picking fonts from a catalogue. You also cannot freely invent a brand-new layout the way a Wix editor can. If you want a one-off art direction, Wix or an agency is the better match.

Price, as published today

Webyte publishes two yearly plans in ringgit: Starter RM 199 a year and Pro RM 399 a year. Pro includes a standard domain in the business name. The first 100 businesses pay RM 99 for the first year, then the usual price. Auto-renews. You can turn that off before the next date. Payment goes through HitPay. We never store your card.

Wix sells many plans, usually in other currencies, with different limits for ads, domain, and commerce. Their public pricing changes and is not listed in RM on our site. Convert before you compare, and read which features sit behind which plan. A cheap Wix plan plus a domain plus apps can add up. We will not quote a Wix total here because it depends on the plan you pick and the exchange rate that day.

WhatsApp, BM, and a Malaysian shop floor

Webyte treats WhatsApp and call as default, not as an extra widget you hope an app store still supports. Hours are shown the way a Malaysian listing writes them. Bahasa Melayu is a first-class public page language on webyte.app, not only a toggle that search engines never see.

Wix can add WhatsApp through apps or buttons you configure. It can be in BM if you write BM. None of that is automatic from a Malaysian Google listing. You can make it excellent. You do the wiring.

What Webyte will not do

  • A full online store with hundreds of SKUs and checkout flows Wix commerce is built for.
  • A magazine, membership, or events stack.
  • Drag-and-drop pixel control over every section.
  • Copying Google review text or ratings onto the live site. We do not store those.

If those are the job, use the tool that is built for them. We would rather lose that customer than stretch Webyte into a weak Wix.

What Wix will not do for you out of the box

It will not pull your Malaysian listing into a preview while you watch. It will not verify you own the business through the WhatsApp on that listing before publish. It will not assume the next customer is standing in a car park trying to tap chat. You can build all of that. It is not the default.

A fair way to decide

If you enjoy designing and you need a wide toolbox, Wix is a serious option. If you want the listing you already maintain to become a page with WhatsApp, and you want the price in RM with a Malaysian company behind it, try Webyte. Open the start flow, search the shop, and look at the preview. If it is wrong, leave. If it looks like the kedai, add photos and go live.

Who should not pick Webyte

If you need a store with hundreds of SKUs, memberships, or a daily blog, Wix or a commerce platform is the honest match. If you need a one-off art site, hire a designer. Webyte is for shops that already have a Google listing and already run the counter on WhatsApp. We would rather you pick the other tool than buy the wrong one and look for a drag-and-drop that is not here.
